AMD launches Ryzen 3000XT desktop processors starting at $249

HIGHLIGHTS

  • AMD has launched the Ryzen 3000XT series of desktop CPUs.
  • It has marginally advanced versions of Ryzen 3000X series with some boost frequencies.
  • The Ryzen 3000XT series of PC CPUs start at $249 and will be available in July.

AMD has refreshed its Ryzen 3000 series of desktop processors with their higher-clocked versions. The latest desktop CPUs from AMD are called Ryzen 3000XT and they are based on the 7-nanometre Zen 2 architecture. The company has said the Ryzen 3000XT series are designed to maximise performance "under any workload" with higher boost frequencies. The Ryzen 3000XT series are expected to be available starting July 7 in global markets.

Features

The Ryzen 3000XT series includes three desktop processors, the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, the AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT, and the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, which are the higher clocked versions of the Ryzen 3900X, Ryzen 3800X, and Ryzen 3600X, respectively. The boost frequencies on the Ryzen 3600XT and Ryzen 3900XT are 100Hz while the Ryzen 3800XT gets a boost frequency of 200Hz. The base frequencies, however, remain the same on all three models. AMD says there is an up to 4 per cent increase in the single-threaded performance on the Ryzen 3900XT processors over the Ryzen 3900X while the power efficiency is up to 40 per cent more than the competition.

Since the latest-generation processors from AMD are focused on delivering heavy-duty performance, the company has included a Wraith Spire cooler on the Ryzen 3600XT retail box while the Ryzen 3900XT, Ryzen 3800XT, and Ryzen 3600XT have the ability to allow "enthusiasts" to use aftermarket cooling solutions. AMD has recommended using 280mm AIO coolers so that the processors perform their best. The previous-generation Ryzen 3000X processors were bundled with the company's cooling solution. AMD's logic here seems impractical since there is no increase in the TDP of the processors over their predecessors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 could feature 60Hz Full HD+ display

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 could get Full HD+ display
  • The phone is tipped to support only up to 60Hz refresh
  • The Galaxy Note 20 is said to be launched in August

Samsung is expected to launch new Galaxy S20 series phones in August, with the company tipped to populate the series with two, maybe even three new phones. Over the last few weeks, there have been a number of leaks about the Galaxy Note 20 series of phones, of which most have fixated on the higher-end Galaxy Note 20 Ultra model.

However, we now have information about vanilla Note 20, which according to new reports will feature a "flat screen" with full-HD resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. According to tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy Note 20 will be quite a contrast to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and will come bearing a flat display and "wide frame". This will be a serious departure from the past Note 20 series phones, all of which have featured curved displays over the last few years.

The move to a Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate capped to 60Hz will also be quite a bummer for a lot of fans who have now gotten used to faster displays on even mid-range smartphones.

But while the Galaxy Note 20 may disappoint a few, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra could turn out to be a real blockbuster. Previously leaked renders have shown Galaxy Note 20+ (or now the Note 20 Ultra) has been shown to bring slight curves and a boxy design -- something we've previously seen on Galaxy S20 Ultra and even the Galaxy Note 10 last year.

As for the specs, OnLeaks has claimed in the past that the Galaxy Note 20+ will bring a rather big display at 6.9-inches. This will be bigger than the one found on the Galaxy Note 10+ which came with a 6.8-inch display. Reports in the past have suggested that the Galaxy Note 20+ could come with a 120Hz mode for faster refresh rates. Additionally, reports claim the panel on the phone will be built using LTPO tech.

Google Meet vs Google Duo: Which one should you pick?

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Meet was recently integrated into Gmail and just yesterday, it was integrated into the Gmail app.
  • Google Duo lets users add up to 32 people on the web while the mobile version supports up to 12 people in a single call.
  • Meet has specific features like webinars and screen sharing whereas Duo can be a great app for hosting a virtual party with friends.

Google announced major updates to two of its video conferring platforms Google Duo and Google Meet. While the Duo will now be able to host 32 people at once, Meet makes a smooth transition to the Gmail app on mobile. Ever since the lockdowns were imposed due to coronavirus, the demand for video-conferencing apps increased rapidly. Many apps like Zoom rose to overnight fame.

Keeping the proliferation of video-conferencing app in mind, Google too rebranded Hangouts as Meet and presented its own video-conferencing platform. Initially, the app was chargeable but now the Meet app has been made available to all the users free of cost. The Meet was recently integrated into Gmail and just yesterday, it was integrated into the Gmail app.

Whereas Google Duo comes pre-loaded in all the Android phones. It was being looked up as a more causal video-calling app but now it also lets users add up to 32 people on the web while the mobile version supports up to 12 people in a single call. There is no doubt that both the video-calling platforms can be used for professional as well as personal purposes but there is a clear distinction between the two apps.

Google Meet has an edge over Google Duo if you need an app for professional purposes. The Meet has specific features like webinars and screen sharing whereas Duo can be a great app for hosting a virtual party with friends.

Coming to the interface, both Meet and Duo have a pretty clean UI and extremely easy to use. For instance, you can launch Dup simply by tapping on the camera icon and adding people you want to chat with. There are filters and effects that can make you chat a fun one. Similarly, Google Meet is even simpler to access, the app opens in a camera mode and there are two options that are given to the users— New Meeting or Meeting Code. A meeting can be joined on Google app using a Meeting code and you can also be a host and invite people to join your call following the same process. You can also schedule meetings on Google Meet and let people know about it in advance.

Android 11 Will Include a Hidden Recycle Bin to Let You Trash Files Instead of Deleting Them Completely

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Android 11 will enable trashing support through an updated MediaStore API
  • A hidden recycle bin will be available to store trashed files
  • Android 11 will come with an upgraded Scoped Storage concept
  • Android 11 will bring a list of upgrades to deliver an improved experience over what users get with Android 10. But one of the key changes that the new operating system will include is a hidden recycle bin to let users move photos and videos to trash instead of deleting them completely. The new experience will come from an upgraded storage access mechanism that gives users the ability to recover a particular file at a later stage. However, the files that are trashed will be hidden by default and will not be accessible to users in a way like how the Recycle Bin on a desktop provides access to deleted files.

A file that has been trashed will be deleted automatically by the operating system after 30 days, explains Android Product Manager Roxanna Aliabadi in a video posted on the Android Developers YouTube channel. “Trash files can be untrashed at any time before its expiration by an app that has added access to it or with user consent,” she said.

OnePlus Budget TV Models May Support 93 Percent DCI-P3 Colour Gamut, CEO Pete Lau Teases

OnePlus TV series is expected to come in a 32-inch HD model and a 43-inch full-HD model.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • OnePlus TV models come with a Gamma Engine
  • It provides better picture quality at affordable price
  • OnePlus TV models will be launched on July 2

OnePlus is all set to unveil its new budget friendly TV models in India on July 2 and company CEO Pete Lau has teased what look like a couple of technical details about the upcoming TV models on Twitter. Without naming the series, the CEO hinted the OnePlus TV models will come with an “innovative Gamma Engine” and 93 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. This essentially means they will have vivid picture quality and high colour accuracy. As of now, it is unclear how many models of the budget friendly OnePlus TV will be launched but recently, a 32-Inch and a 43-Inch model were spotted on Bluetooth SIG website.

Pete Lau, in a tweet, teased that the upcoming OnePlus TV models have “exceptional DCI-P3 93 percent colour gamut” meaning they will have vivid displays with high colour accuracy. Such support is normally seen in high-end televisions, so it would be surprising that it would make its way to budget models. Lau may be referring to another upcoming model, a more premium one.

In another tweet, Lau shared that the company's innovative Gamma Engine will deliver better picture quality at a more affordable price point. The tweet also talks about smoothness which may have something to do with motion blur reduction or frame rates.

Huami Amazfit T-Rex rugged smartwatch now available in India: Price, features

  • Huami Amazfit T-Rex smartwatch was unveiled at CES 2020 in January.
  • The Amazfit T-Rex is priced at Rs 9,999 in India.

Huami is launching the Amazfit T-Rex smartwatches in India months after it debuted them at the CES 2020. The AmazFit T-Rex comes as a rugged smartwatch with the MIL-STD-810G standard for durability. The design of the smartwatch is similar to old chronograph and mechanical watches and comes in military print on its straps.

Priced at Rs 9,999, the Huami Amazfit is up for grabs on Amazon.in and the company website while it will be available to buy at Croma, Reliance Digital, and Poorvika Mobiles for physical purchases.

The Amazfit T-Rex teasers began flooding in last month when Huami was busy building the hype around the smartwatch. Rightfully so, the Amazfit T-Rex borrows so many design elements from the digital watches. On top of that, there is the military-standard for weather endurance and protection against accidental drops. Huami claims the smartwatch can withstand damp, salt, and other outdoor activities, in addition to surviving in temperatures between -40 degrees to 70 degrees Celsius.

The Huami Amazfit T-Rex comes with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display that can produce 16.7 million colours. It has a BioTracker PPG optical heart rate sensor, an activity tracker, a sleep monitor, a 28nm Sony GPS chip, and GLONASS. There is a 390mAh battery under the hood, which is rated to deliver a life of up to 66 days, depending on the usage. There are over 30 watch faces on the smartwatch and support for music playback control.

It will last for up to 66 days when the Bluetooth connection is turned off, heart rate, other functions, and lifting the wrist to see the screen performed only 100 times a day.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi's new 30,000mAh Mi Power Bank 3 can charge iPhone SE 10 times

Xiaomi's ever-growing product portfolio now includes its biggest power bank yet. The company has launched the Mi Power Bank 3 with a massive 30,000mAh battery capacity, enough to charge the latest iPhone SE more than 10 times and its own flagship Mi 10 about 5 times. The latest power bank from Xiaomi is a big upgrade over Power Bank 2 and comes in a rock-solid design. It has been launched in China for now, but Xiaomi may bring its latest power bank to other markets, including India.

Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 Price

The Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 comes at a price of CNY 170, which translates to approximately Rs 1,800. If the company decides to bring the Power Bank 3 to the Indian market, the pricing of Rs 1,800 could be quite attractive. Recently, Xiaomi-rival Realme launched its new power banks in China, which are now expected to launch in India.

In China, the Mi Power Bank 3 goes on sale via JD.com starting June 18.

Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 Design, Features

The build quality of the Mi Power Bank 3 is seemingly robust. It is a rectangular slab with one too many ports on one side. The power bank has two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and one Micro-USB port. The USB-A and USB-C ports are rated to deliver the 18W fast charging to the connected smartphone, given it also supports the same charging rate. Most of Xiaomi's latest smartphones come with 18W fast charging or more. Meanwhile, the latest iPhone SE 2020 also has 18W fast charging.

Xiaomi has given the Mi Power Bank 3 a low-power mode for products such as smartwatches and wireless earbuds, which do not require a high voltage and are charged rather more quickly than smartphones. Most power banks have issues providing the required current to these gadgets. To enable the low-power mode on the Power Bank 3, the button given on the side needs to be pressed twice.

WhatsApp to soon work on four devices simultaneously with one account

  • WhatsApp has begun showing the first instances of multi-device support.
  • WhatsApp could be supported simultaneously on four devices with one account.
  • There is no tangible detail to when the feature will be out.

WhatsApp is facing a strong competition ever since more players entered the space. Now, the Facebook-owned chat app is looking to add more features to give a tough fight in an attempt to wrest its customers. WhatsApp is working on the feature that will allow it to work simultaneously on four devices with one account. The said feature could be the first one of the many elements that WhatsApp will gradually roll out for multi-device support, which has been in the rumour mill for a long time now.

According to a screenshot posted by the WhatsApp watchdog, WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon let users sign in to their account on more than one device at a time. The functionality will likely rely on a Wi-Fi network that other devices may also need to be connected to. The screenshot shows a "Continue" button to "begin the process" after WhatsApp is "connected to WiFi". WhatsApp is still working on the feature and it is not likely to roll out soon to the beta channel.

Mi Notebooks too costly? Redmibook models may come for less than Rs 20,000 soon

Xiaomi is rumoured to be working on affordable Redmibook models with low-end processors and custom Indian designs.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Xiaomi could be working on affordable Redmi-branded laptops in India.
  • These laptops could come with older generation Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors.
  • The laptops could start from as low as Rs 20,000.

Xiaomi’s first range of laptops for the Indian market hasn’t been exactly what everyone expected. The Mi Notebook 14 series offers great specifications for its price but consumers expected Xiaomi to bring laptops to the masses at a much lower overall price. Guess what, Xiaomi is already working on it. Or, as it seems, as the rumours have stated. Apart from the Mi Notebook 14 models, Xiaomi is going to work on Redmibook models tailored for India.

A recent report from TechPP has suggested that Xiaomi is working on some affordable laptops for the Indian market and these may be coming in the next few months. In fact, the website says that the cheaper laptops may launch around the same time as India’s Independence Day, i.e. mid-August. The best part is that these laptops will co-exist along with the Mi Notebook models.

Of course, Xiaomi is going to use its branding cleverly for the laptops. The premium laptops will belong to the Mi series whereas affordable laptops will belong to the Redmi series. If it rings any bell, then these could be the Redmibook models that Xiaomi recently announced for the Chinese market.

The prices for the said models are expected to start from as low as Rs 20,000 and those looking for decent workhorses may find Intel Core i3 powered laptops priced for almost Rs 25,000. This affordable series is also expected to have Core i5 models in the lineup. That said, Xiaomi may use slightly older generation Intel chips to keep the costs of these laptops low. So don’t expect bleeding-edge 10th Gen processors in these laptops.

Lenovo confirms gaming phone under Legion brand, launch likely in July

The Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone has been in the rumour mill for quite some time and said to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor under the hood.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lenovo will finally be launching the Legion gaming smartphone.
  • The smartphone will have its pop-up selfie cameras sideways.
  • The Lenovo's Legion gaming phone is likely to launch in July.

Lenovo has confirmed it will launch a gaming smartphone under the Legion brand, popular for its gaming laptops. There has been a rather huge speculation on the company's next move to revive the smartphone business after its dismal performance. The Chinese company has said on Weibo that its Legion gaming smartphone is real and will arrive in July. Lenovo also gave away the first look of the smartphone wherein its key design has been confirmed.

On Weibo, Lenovo wrote "Waiting for a long time, see you in July" (translated from Mandarin) along with the logo of its Legion line-up. While the first poster does not show what the smartphone will look like, a previously leaked render does. The Lenovo Legion smartphone will have a design that has leaked previously in renders. There will be pop-up cameras that will stick out from the side instead of the top edge. This implies Lenovo's upcoming gaming smartphone is practically meant to be used horizontally.

As per a report published in Wired, many TikTok users have alleged that their content was uploaded on Zynn without their consent. Users have also complained that their accounts have been cloned completely on the Zynn app. Their name, pictures, and videos have started appearing on the clone app and the people have no idea how their content got transported to the app without their permission.

In both platforms, it featured under the top ten most downloaded app. While the is not available on Google Play Store, App Store still has the Zynn app.

The reason behind Zynn’s sudden growth was its reward programme where the users got paid for watching videos on the app and for also making other users download the app. As the report, users got $1 for joining the app, $20 for getting another user to join the app, and $10 for making five other users join the app

Talking about its payments scheme, a Zynn spokesperson had told The Financial Times, "We didn’t want to pay giant corporations like Facebook or Google so we used the exact same amount of money to pay our frontline users instead. Our app will only have value and significance with a large number of users on it.” They had also admitted having “lapses in this area” and the company further said that they are “in communications with Google and working to fix this ASAP.”
